Tru Jamaica, a beloved East Waco restaurant destroyed by fire in 2022, is set to reopen after years of setbacks. Owner Aniceto Charles Jr. secured city and bank support to rebuild at the original Taylor Street location, adding new features like a patio and drive-thru. Despite insurance shortfalls and rising costs, the team kept staff together and stayed afloat with catering and food trucks. The reopening marks a fresh start and a return as a cultural gathering spot in the community.
